Nikhil & the Gang
Nikhil Shibnauth first caught attention in 2021 during the second edition of the Online Akoustik Sessions. His Hindi covers showcased a velvet-smooth voice and a natural sensitivity that would soon become a defining part of his musical identity.
In 2023, he took another step forward with Kafe Kiltir Moris. Opening Season 6, he stood out for a performance where vocal control went hand in hand with an expressive delivery that gave equal importance to words and emotion.
It was with the formation of a band, however, that this musical identity truly began to take shape. Together with Ashvin Velleyen, Meehir and Vedesh Bhootooa, Nikhil formed Nikhil & the Gang, a four-piece whose sound draws from a diverse range of influences, blending Indian sounds with elements of world music.
A singer-songwriter and composer, Nikhil also moves effortlessly between English, French and Hindi, adding further depth and versatility to the band’s musical identity.
