Concert Alfredo Muro – 30th October

Alfredo Muro, a distinguished interpreter, composer, arranger, and improviser from Peru, began teaching himself guitar and quickly progressed, earning a scholarship to study with Maestro Pepe Torres.

At thirteen, he won a nationally televised competition in Peru. He continued his studies with renowned Peruvian guitar masters Octavio Ticona and Carlos Hayre, and later studied with Manuel Lopez Ramos, Frank Costa, John Doan, Alfredo Escande, and Maestro Jose Suarez.

Muro has represented Peru and the USA at numerous international guitar festivals in countries such as Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, Canada, and Japan. He has performed for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican and prestigious venues like the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Benaroya Hall in Seattle, and The Smithsonian Museum.

His accolades include the Jack Rosenberg Memorial Musician of the Month Award, the Eureka trophy for Quality and Artistic Excellence, and recognition as the “Pride of the Hispanic Community.”

In recent years, Muro has continued to tour globally, participating in notable events like the Caroso Guitar Festival in Rome and performing with the Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad de Guanajuato.
