Bruno Raya

Bruno Raya is a Mauritian seggae singer. He made his debut in 1992 at the age of 16 with the Street Brothers with 13 friends. He was the leading artist of the band. Then they changed the name of the group to Otentik Street Brothers. In 1994, they released their first album, Ragga Kreol, which was a real success for them. Mauritians loved the music, the style of the music and all.
Bruno Raya had a motive to educate the public about this type of music. To keep music alive, they started doing events around the island in 1995. They also did events out of Mauritius as well. The band was one of its kind in Mauritius and in the Indian Ocean. He writes song about everything that goes around on the island, drugs, prostitution, slavery and communalism. His goal is to eradicate all these differences from the people of this island, which is near to impossible.
For this type of music, he has fans of all ages, which is indeed his target. He aims to change the perspective of many from a very young age, for them to stop communalism between the younger ones. He allows all the “ghetto kids” to know that they can have a brighter future if they follow their dream and not negative thoughts or peer pressure or even drug addicts.
