La Tribu Sagapataal

Sagapataal is a group of musicians led by Bala Codian. The name Sagapataal reflects this musical identity: Sa (sitar), Ga (guitar), Pa (piano), and Taal (tabla), while also referring to three Indian musical notes (Sa, Ga and Pa) and rhythm, symbolising the harmony between melody and the tempo (Taal).

Since 2003, Sagapataal has collaborated with Pascal Pierre, performing together under the name of Guru et la tribu, blending live instruments with electronic music and DJ culture, creating a unique bridge between traditional and modern sound. Their musical journey has continuously evolved, with performances across Mauritius and internationally, from major hotels, events and festivals to diverse cultural stages.

Accompanied by talented musicians, the group has toured extensively, sharing a powerful message: music has no borders, no religion, it is universal. That same year, Pascal Pierre (Guru) produced and launched the first album of Sagapataal, marking the beginning of a long-standing collaboration that continues to thrive today in duo live performances of DJ and Sitarist.

At the LEGENDS – Music Reconnection Event, La Tribu Sagapataal brings this musical heritage to life through a live performance where tradition, rhythm, and electronic fusion unite on stage.
