Otentik Groove is one of Mauritius’s most influential musical ensembles, drawing its essence from a shared passion for emblematic genres like sega, seggae, and reggae.Founded by Chrisjo Clair, Didier Baniaux, and Elvis Heroseau, the group’s origins are steeped in a profound dedication to these rich musical traditions.
The ensemble’s earlier formations boasted talents such as Jean Michel Ayoung on drums, Jason Heerah on vocals and percussion, and Géraldo Pierre on keyboards. Their notable collaboration with the late Lin on his final album ‘Mo Recompans’ in 2016 further cemented their reputation. Subsequently, Jason Heerah became a pivotal member, contributing to releasing two albums: ‘Nou Sime’ in 2017 and ‘La Famille’ in 2021, alongside several singles.
With time, Otentik Groove has solidified its position as a beloved musical icon on the island. Their iconic tracks like ‘Zizman’, ‘Lévé’, ‘Kifer To Pale Danser’, and ‘La Famille’ stand as monuments to their musical prowess.
