Gérard Louis

Gérard Louis is not only a guitarist, but also a singer, producer and events organiser. He is one of the co-founders of the Mauritian group Cassiya, which was active from 1992 to 2003.

The group released its first album, entitled “Separation”, in 1993, and then took the name “Cassiya”. Their success was spectacular, and in 1994 they were awarded the title of “Record of the Year” for their song “Djouni Djouna”, followed in 1995 by “Ici cote nou été”.

In 2003, they were awarded “disque d’or” status in Réunion. As a result of their success in Mauritius, Gérard Louis and the group have performed in Reunion Island, Africa, Europe and even Australia.

Alain Ramanisum

Alain Ramanisum, a key figure on the Mauritian music scene, needs no introduction. His first venture into the world of sega dates back to 1992 with the legendary group Cassiya.

As pianist and arranger with Cassiya, he scored a string of hits and gave some memorable concerts. His solo career began in 2002, and over the years he has become an established artist with a distinguished and highly commendable career.

With the hit “Li Tourner”, in collaboration with Dj Assad and Willy William, Alain Ramanisum created a sensation and performed all over the world, from Australia to France, via England, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium and many other places. The song, which has over 78 million views on YouTube, earned Alain Ramanisum a “disque d’or”.

Sylvio Louise

Sylvio Louise is a popular segatier from Mauritius. He’s a very original entertainer. His hits include “Poisson salé”, “Soul Kawal”, “Katiya Créole” and “Lagam Sega”, the 2012 Sega of the Year.

Laura Beg

Laura Beg is an iconic singer from Mauritius, renowned for her ability to hit the high notes. Her musical career began as a backing singer for Cassiya, and she later became a member of Alain Ramanisum’s group, Ravana. Her debut album, ‘Tik Tiker’, released in 2011, was a huge success. Laura Beg remains a popular artist in Mauritius and beyond.

Balik Taroo

Balik Taroo’s hits such as “Foufoun”, “Macifon” and “Bonne Femme Chinois” have kept a whole generation dancing. He is regarded as a sega legend in Mauritius.

Sylvain Kaleecharan

Sylvain Kaleecharan, a sega icon. He was a member of the group Zotsa. The singer has several hit songs to his credit, including “Ravann pé baté”, which was crowned Sega of the Year in 1999. In 2004, he released his first solo album, “Valer lamour”, followed by “Langaz mo kiltir” in 2006.

One of his most emblematic songs from this album, “Mazougue”, was a huge hit in Mauritius and La Réunion. Thanks to his varied musical career, Sylvain Kaleecharan remains a key figure in sega, appreciated and recognised by a wide audience.

Renel Trapu

Two songs, Dife dan cite and Lot pa kile, were named “ Disques de l’année ”. Another (Lavi somer) won him the Sofe Ravanne competition. Renel Trapu is the kind of singer who knows how to create catchy songs.
