About the Event : Champions of Compassion: Rise through Kun Khmer BMA Fight Mania 3

The event is free, but booking a ticket on OTAYO is essential. No ticket, no entry!

10 championship fights. 20 fighters. A Celebration of Physical And Mental Toughness, Resilience, Achievement & Youth Empowerment.

Saturday 11 July 2026, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, at the Côte d'Or National Sports Complex.

Convened by Compassion Unites (CU), in partnership with Bambous Martial Arts (BMA) Sports Club, led by Patrick and Ranini Cundasawmy, and the Universal Integrative Health Foundation (UIHF), founded by Dr Ishan Shivanand, this championship is set to be a landmark event in Mauritius—bringing together sport, culture, and purpose-driven impact in an inspiring and meaningful way.

At the heart of the event:

  • Ten live Kun Khmer fights, one of the oldest striking martial arts in the world, is built on discipline, self-control, courage, and perseverance. These championship-level bouts will showcase what truly defines a winner. In most cases, it is not raw strength that makes the difference, but the discipline to show up, stay focused, master fear, and keep moving forward.
  • An electrifying live demonstration and inspiring keynote by Dr. Ishan Shivanand, Founder of Compassion Unites (CU) and the Universal Integrative Health Foundation (UIHF), will further elevate the experience. He will decode the mental resilience protocols behind the event — the same principles that help win a fight, applied to everyday life: work, exams, and personal challenges. Commitment to a goal. Emotional regulation. And the discipline of showing up, even when it feels easier not to.
  • World Champion Ranini Cundasawmy, in person. A multiple-time Kun Khmer and Muay Thai world champion born in Mauritius, she will address the crowd directly. On that day, young Mauritians will not just hear about a world champion — they will stand in the same arena as one.
  • Special Guest Dr. MEAM Ra, Honorary President of the Kun Khmer International Federation, will travel to Mauritius to mark the country’s growing presence on the international martial arts stage.
  • Live Mauritian music will set the tone throughout the afternoon, featuring Denis Claude Gaspard, Warren Permal — winner of Disque de l’année 2017 and the MBC Music Award 2018, fresh from his performance in Cannes — and DJ Ejilen on the decks. More artists will be announced soon.
  • A gala and prize-giving ceremony to close the day.
Why this event matters for our youth

Every generation of young Mauritians is encouraged to be disciplined, resilient, and self-confident. Yet few are ever shown what these values look like in practice. This event is designed to change that.

For more than twenty years, Dr Ishan Shivanand has worked with young people facing crisis, pressure, and uncertainty through Compassion Unites and the Universal Integrative Health Foundation. From this experience, he has developed practical mental resilience protocols designed to build inner strength, focus, and self-control. On 11 July, he will demonstrate these methods live.

Alongside him, twenty fighters will enter the arena, embodying these principles under real pressure. For young spectators, this will be more than a memory — it will be a lived lesson in how to apply a fighter’s discipline to exams, setbacks, and goals that feel out of reach. The difference between watching strength and learning it.

Whether you are a martial arts enthusiast, a parent, a student, a young athlete, or a supporter of Mauritian talent, this afternoon will bring sport, music, culture, and national pride together in one arena.

Some fight for victory. We fight for something greater.
