Père Laurent Rivet

Born on April 16, 1980, in Beau-Bassin, Mauritius, Father Laurent Rivet grew up in a typical family environment. He began his education at Lorette Primary School in Vacoas and continued at Collège du Saint-Esprit in Quatre-Bornes. At the end of his secondary studies, his life took a pivotal turn.
Awarded a scholarship to study architecture in Australia, he was profoundly affected by the 1999 riots in Mauritius. This experience made him realize the importance of serving his country and led him to reflect on his true calling.
A few months later, during a spiritual retreat in Souillac, he experienced the living power of God’s word. Convinced of his mission, he set aside his architectural plans and joined the seminary in Nantes, France. He was ordained a priest on August 5, 2007.
Alongside his religious vocation, Father Laurent Rivet has always nurtured a deep passion for music. A pianist and guitarist since childhood, he began composing at the age of 14. In 2003, he recorded his first songs and, a few years later, founded the group Zezi Utd, dedicated to sharing faith and reaching young audiences through spiritual music.
Over the years, he has released a series of acclaimed albums: Enn Zom, Enn Bondie (2003), Leve (2009), Rasinn dan lesiel (2011), Enn Zom, Enn Bondie (re-recorded, 2013), Lor To Laroute (2018), Pran Kont (2020), Bienere (2022), and Pli Lwin (2025). Through his music, Father Laurent Rivet combines faith, prayer, and melody, offering a spiritual message that continues to inspire and draw young people closer to God’s word.
