Désiré François, born on October 24, 1963, originates from the village of Cassis in the capital. While his initial ambition was to become a football player, his life took an unexpected turn when he was introduced to the realm of music. At the age of 16, he discovered his first musical instrument, the guitar, setting ablaze a passion that would ultimately define his future in the music industry.

During the 1980s, he started composing songs influenced by the events and experiences in his surroundings and throughout the island. Joining the Cassiya band as the main lead vocalist marked a pivotal moment in his music career.

In 1992, Désiré François made his debut on the TV show “Star Show,” where he captivated the audience with his first public performance, receiving immense love and applause. Notably, he composed the song “Séparation” and performed it alongside Gérard Louis and Alain Ramanisum. Over time, the group evolved into one of Mauritius’ finest bands, gracing various events.

In 1993, they ventured beyond Mauritius, performing in Rodrigues, and 1994, they enchanted audiences on Reunion Island, reaching both African and French listeners.

Today, Désiré François boasts a music career spanning over 30 years, featuring numerous successful albums, iconic tracks, and memorable concerts in Mauritius, La Réunion, and even Europe.
