Born in 1983, Jason Heerah, the rhythmic heartbeat of the Otentik Groove Band, hails from Australia and carries a profound love for music. His musical journey commenced at the age of 14 when he started playing drums in his dad’s band.
Following a stint in the United States, he returned to Melbourne, where he became the pulsating force behind a band, drumming and singing for about 8-10 years.
In 2014, Jason showcased his talent on the Australian X Factor, delivering a spirited rendition of “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. Despite being eliminated in the 8th week, the judges lauded him as the best singer-drummer.
Upon his return to Mauritius, he faced the challenge of learning Creole but triumphed, releasing his inaugural album, “Nou Sime,” in 2017. The album featured collaborations with local talents like Otentik Groove and Laura Beg.
