Sandra Mayotte
Sandra Mayotte was born on the 15th of September 1970. She was a very hardworking student at school. After her studies, she started working at the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation in the early 2000s. She was working as a presenter at MBC. She is also known for being a very famous singer in the Indian Ocean.
Sandra has also been the choriste in the Cassiya band in 1998 as a beginner, before joining the MBC as presenter. Music has been her passion during her free time. In 2001, she won the Kora Award as the best artist in the East of Africa. She followed her dream, becoming a singer as well as a presenter at the MBC. She knew how to manage her profession and her passion at the same time.
Sandra already has 20 years of experience in the field of being a singer. She composed many songs which became very popular such as Makalapo, Kayambo, voisin voisine and all.
In 2008, she won the second place for the contest, “Song of the Year”, with her song “Kot sa li fine alé”. She then won the contest with Désiré François with the song “ Voisin Voisine”. After this success, she won the contest the next year as well, in 2009, with her song Kayambo.
After all these years of success she then moved back to her presenter life, which she never left. In 2018, she was the presenter of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” in the Mauritian version. She was also appointed as the President of the National Women Entrepreneur Council in April 2018.
After 28 years as presenter at MBC, on radio and 20 years in the music industry, she decided to quit and join politics. She then became the 2nd Elected Member of Constituency No.14, Savanne and Black River and Member of Parliament as from 08 November 2019. She wanted to have an exciting end to her career.
