Sandra Mayotte Biography

Sandra Mayotte was born on 15 September 1970. A hardworking student, she began her professional career in the early 2000s at the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), where she worked as a presenter on radio and television.

Her musical journey started earlier, in 1998, when she joined the Cassiya band as a backing vocalist. Alongside her broadcasting career, music remained her true passion. In 2001, she received international recognition after winning the Kora Award for Best Artist in East Africa. She successfully balanced both professions, pursuing her dream as a singer while continuing her work as a presenter at MBC.

With over 20 years of experience in music, Sandra has released many popular songs, including Makalapo, Kayambo, and Voisin Voisine. In 2008, she won second place in the “Song of the Year” competition with Kot sa li fine alé. She went on to win the competition with Désiré François for Voisin Voisine, and claimed the title again in 2009 with Kayambo.

After several years of musical success, Sandra continued to build on her broadcasting career. In 2018, she hosted the Mauritian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and was appointed President of the National Women Entrepreneur Council in April of the same year.

After 28 years as a presenter at MBC and two decades in the music industry, she decided to step away from broadcasting to enter politics. Yet her love for music never faded, and she eventually returned to the stage to share her passion once again.

More About Sandra Mayotte

Sandra Mayotte started as singer and choriste in the Cassiya band and then also joined the MBC as presenter. She had a career of 20 years in music and 28 years as presenter and on radio as well. After her successful career, she joined the political party, MSM and became the nd Elected Member of Constituency No.14, Savanne and Black River and Member of Parliament as from​ 08 November 2019. Since then Sandra is in politics.
