Emlyn
Emlyn’s real name is Emmelyne Marimootoo. She was born in 1996 and resides in La Gaulette. She was a contemporary dance performer with Jean-Renat Anamah. She even participated in the dance festival, Kaay-Fec, when she was 12. At the age of 17, she started performing in bars and hotels which allowed her to overcome the fear of facing the audience.
Along with the Orchestra of Souls band, she released her song ” Synthetik “, which is about the plague of drugs in the new generation. Emlyn is a very creative person along with being a singer. She creates music out of natural and authentic things such as listening to the calm sound of the water, sometimes listening to the waves. These things encourage her mind to create lyrics and then she holds her ravanne to start singing.
She got an opening as an “acoustipik” singer when she participated in the Indian Ocean Music Market in 2017 which took place in Reunion Island. She loves using the traditional instruments such as the Ravann, Triang or Kayamb and even the guitar. She was also the winner of the music competition that focuses on creativity, Konpoz to Lamizik.
